Galway is a central city located in the west of Ireland. A rough estimation of 1500 Muslim families, few hundreds of students in National University of Ireland, Galway, and around 70 or more doctors work in the hospital in Galway.

CURRENT SITUTATION IN GALWAY

1. Friday prayers are held in a rented community center (basketball court), as well as Taraweekh and Eid prayers, both being held in rented places. Therefore a huge sum of money is paid regularly.

2. There is no Arabic nor Quranic classes being opened here. Majority of the kids are not able to read Arabic (the Quran).

3. Riverside Mosque is actually a house which was donated by one of our brothers but for years it has remained as the sole place to perform jemaah prayers. The mosque is not able to accommodate the growing number of Muslims in Galway.

4. The attempts to buy a land over the last few years was not successful despite the continuous effort, as the price of the land continuously going up.

5. Certain criteria need to be considered- parking spaces, away from crowded areas and of course an affordable price. NOT JUST A PLACE FOR PRAYERS

6. The new mosque is expected to be a masjid, school for the kids, center for tahfeez and teaching to women and people of all age groups as well as a cultural center. THE ISSUE Praise to Allah swt, the continuous effort has resulted in a near success. Currently there is a very suitable site available at the price of 700 000 euros and the deposit of 60 000 euros are paid. The rest of the money has to be paid within the next 2 months. To ensure that our dream to have a mosque of our own come into reality, we launched a donation campaign where after just 3 weeks the balance needed to be paid has reduced to 450 000 euros. We are proud that all the brothers and sisters from different countries under the name of Islam have contributed in seeing this campaign to appear as a success.

1. One of the doctors has paid through the course of the past few years not less than 80 000 euros; we respect his wish not to mention his name

2. Another 2 young doctors committed themselves to pay 10 000 euros each over 4 months installments. OUR HOPE It seems that we still need more funds and we would highly appreciate if you would kindly contribute whatever you could afford for this donation campaign.
